Where to Find Manga Resources? A Complete Guide to Download Sources

First, an important note: Manga Capsule is just a reader and doesn't provide any manga resources. This article is about where to find resources, and has nothing to do with Manga Capsule itself.
The previous episode covered how to choose manga formats, and this one will focus on where to find resources. I've organized all the channels I've used and know about over the years.
Let me start with a legendary site that's now gone.
Manga BuDang Forum. Many of the old RAR and ZIP manga packs you see on the market today, those scan resources with two images per page, mostly came from this forum. The forum had strict access requirements and level restrictions — you couldn't download many things without sufficient level, but the resource quality was extremely high. However, the admin seems to have stopped managing it, and the site is now closed, becoming a legend. If you still have any resource packs from Manga BuDang, treasure them.
Now for the most commonly used one: Kmoe.
This is my main download source currently. The resources are comprehensive with multiple versions, mainly in EPUB and MOBI formats, and the quality is relatively stable. The image quality of ongoing series can be a bit average, but it's good enough for completed works. There's a free tier, and it's better after充值 (topping up), though the prices have gone up quite a bit compared to before. The domain changes frequently, but you can find the current address by Googling the keywords, and your account credentials stay the same. Some resources require科学上网 (a VPN) to access.
Now let me mention a few I've used.
CiYuanDog Anime, a rare choice among free sites. It has a large number of resources with various网盘 (cloud storage) links, and the download barrier is low. The downside is that the resource packs are all over the place — some are 7Z archives, some are JPG and PNG image packs, and some are password-protected, often requiring computer operations to extract and repack, which can be tough for pure mobile users.
ManHe (漫核), the operator of this site must be a very nostalgic person. Many manga's double-page spreads have been restored, HD versions, and full-color versions have been manually selected and processed — the quality is very excellent. The downside is that the format is mostly large 7Z archives, which require password extraction after downloading, then repackaging into a format supported by the reader. The operation is relatively complex, recommended for users with computers; those without should think twice.
ManFree (漫自由), feels somewhat overlapping with Kmoe, like a mirrored site that crawled content. Also mainly in EPUB and MOBI formats, with a free tier. Some manga update faster than Kmoe, some slower.
cc-pdf, a site I bought a lifetime membership for a long time ago. It has quite a few vintage manga resources; the early formats were only PDF, and now some have Quark网盘 links. To prevent the resources from being deleted by网盘 (cloud storage), all filenames have been modified with homophones, so perfectionists need to change them back one by one on a computer. The server configuration is very low, so the site is very slow to open, and the domain changes frequently.
Now let me mention a few that I think aren't very suitable for manga downloads.
z-library, a classic e-book site that's great for publications, but the quantity and quality of manga resources aren't great. It's often recommended by bloggers who don't read manga as a manga download site, but it's actually not suitable for this purpose.
Know Manga BuDang (知道漫画补档), an unofficial backup site for the Manga BuDang Forum, costs 50 yuan just to register. Not really recommended.
BuYiZhiHuo (不移之火), itself a 3D model resource site, with manga just being one section. Resources aren't abundant; the advantage is that there are some niche books in American and European comics, and art books are also quite plentiful. However, the format is mainly PDF with various encryptions, the operation is very cumbersome, and the resource quality isn't careful enough — they're basically just reposts. Quite expensive, not worth it.
Besides these websites, there are also some grassroots channels. Tieba and Weibo accounts of scanlation groups, where you can find the fastest resources for new and interesting manga — the downside is that posts are frequently deleted and content gets removed.
Xianyu, Xiaohongshu, WeChat public accounts, and personal resource accounts on WeChat and QQ — cheap, foolproof, and some accounts do provide resources. But definitely don't be tempted by those cheap bundles that cost like a few cents for several terabytes — they're mostly garbage. There are also those who say they're giving away software in live streaming rooms to guide you to follow them and then sell things — just block those.
Finally, let me go over the format topic again for a quick review. When downloading resources, prioritize EPUB and MOBI, then ZIP and CBZ. PDF is passable but the experience is generally poor, and it especially consumes memory when doing AI HD processing. RAR, CBR, 7Z, and pure image folders — avoid if you can.
This resource channel thing changes very quickly; what's useful today might be gone tomorrow. If you have other good channels, feel free to share feedback — I can help test the formats and experience.
The next episode will discuss how to configure shared folders on your NAS after you get it, so that the reader can connect — we're getting into the practical steps.
Thanks for reading my article. See you next time.
